Create Your Inner Resource

On this episode, I share with you one of my favorite go-to tools that I turn to when I feel that I am spinning out of control. Now I know you are saying “wait…you are the StressFreeMD… The Self-Care Doctor….the Doctor’s Doctor….and you always sound calm…and put together…” so if you are thinking that, know that I am really human too with a human brain and therefore I too have moments where I am feeling that I am stressed and anxious and spinning out of control.  So I practice what I preach—I am repeatedly checking in with myself and bringing myself back to feeling calm & put together all day and night long by utilizing my self-care tools from my own personal self-care tool-box.

This tool is something that you can use any time during the day or night and is different than any of the other tools that I have been sharing with you because you make it uniquely your own and you can also change it whenever you want to.  This makes it a particularly effective safe trauma-informed secular tool for you to use.  

It comes from one of the 1st steps of iRest® meditation that I am certified to facilitate which was originally developed a few decades ago for Walter Reed Army Hospital to help our military relieve symptoms and suffering from PTSD and it's called Inner Resource.
 
You can think of it like your trusted friend that is always there for you anchoring you back into feeling calm and grounded, safe & secure whenever you need it. You can use it during the daytime or nighttime. It can even help you fall asleep and fall back asleep.
